As a result, the prices and cabin space directly requested from shipping companies by shippers are significantly higher than those quoted by some freight forwarding companies. However, choosing a freight forwarding company isn't difficult either: the lower the company's problem-solving capability and the slower its efficiency, the more complex the issues it tends to handle. Therefore, it’s important to select a freight forwarding company with a solid reputation.

III. Wuzhou Freight Forwarders—Criteria for Selecting a Freight Forwarder

Every company has its own strengths. First, you need to understand the freight forwarder’s advantages on specific shipping routes—such as cut-off times, number of days until departure, and whether the freight rates are appropriate. Also, consider whether the pre-arranged shipping line can directly handle the shipment or if additional transportation is required, as well as whether port transit and transshipment arrangements are feasible and whether the vessel’s duty schedule can be smoothly transferred without resulting in cargo being left behind at the transit port. Moreover, it’s important to familiarize yourself with established trade patterns and emerging trends, including the flow of goods. For instance, if your products are destined for a limited number of ports, any special certificates that may need to be processed or additional fees that might apply along a particular route should be taken into account.

If the freight forwarding company provides customs declarations, trailer services, and warehousing capabilities, and also has its own customs department and freight forwarding expertise, everyone should take into account the prevailing market prices and avoid chasing small discounts. By keeping trade and logistics costs relatively low, you can ensure smoother coordination throughout the entire transportation process. Moreover, the carrier company will assume full responsibility for any issues that arise at any stage of the process.

A better freight forwarding company, in addition to being familiar with marine cargo transport documents and ensuring they are accurate, clear, and timely, as well as understanding customs procedures and port operations, must also take into account its role as a customs agent. In the course of performing its duties, it should be capable of safeguarding the interests of both its clients and the customs authorities. Therefore, we must carefully select a freight forwarder based on our specific goods.
